FEBRUARY 16, 2018: Progress of
a country is not all about economic strength, tall buildings and so on and so
forth, but its people, according to khatibs nationwide in their Friday sermon.
“The progress of a country is not
measured solely in terms of economic strength, skyscrapers and the like.
Instead progress also comes about through a just ruler and a believing and
pious people who hold fast to the teaching of the Quran and Sunnah”.
“Know that a country’s progress will
be meaningless when its people live without guidance and in neglect of the
teachings of Islam”, said the khatibs.
The Friday sermon today
underlines that Negara Brunei Darussalam is a country underpinned by the
concept of Malay Islamic Monarchy (Melayu Islam Beraja, MIB).
MIB concept places great
importance on religious values and prioritises Islamic teachings and laws in
shaping the foundation of administration, management and legislation according
to the Qur’an and Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
“In this way, the country will
enjoy peace and prosperity with the support of its believing and pious citizens”,
said the khatibs.
